Recently, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) announced the list of recipients of the “IEC 1906 Award.” A total of 44 experts from China received the award, a record high number of recipients, once again demonstrating China’s technical strength and continuously growing global influence in the field of international electrotechnical standardization.

The mechanism
The award creates no new IEC requirement, market-access condition or conformity rule for EU firms. It does disclose that 44 Chinese experts—19% of this year’s recipients—were recognised across 33 fields, including power systems, storage, industrial control and rail equipment.
