The mechanism
Chinese-led ISO projects put thermal-management test methods onto the international work programme, while China’s IEC guidance on discharging retired batteries has reached Committee Draft stage. EU battery makers and recyclers face no new binding requirement today, but the drafts can shape the tests and operating procedures later used in procurement, certification and recycling contracts. Any first-mover advantage for Chinese suppliers depends on the assumption that their domestic practice is reflected in the final text.
